ADDITIONAL OPTIONS FOR ACQUIRING HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT

Please consult your councilor before pursuing any of these alternative methods for acquiring high school graduation credit.  It's essential that they do indeed meet the requirements for Anchor Bay High School and the Michigan Merit Curriculum.

Michigan Virtual High School - The Michigan Virtual School (MVS) is an online resource that enables Michigan high schools and middle schools to provide courses (all taught by certified teachers) and other learning tools that students wouldn't otherwise have access to. It was funded by the Michigan Legislature in July 2000 to be operated by the Michigan Virtual University (MVU), a private, not-for-profit Michigan corporation. MVS works in cooperation with individual school districts to grant course credit and diplomas.

Through MVS, Michigan high school and middle school students can take a variety of courses and learn any place there is a computer and an Internet connection. Additionally, high school students can prepare for tests such as the Michigan Merit Exam and AP* exams.

Summer School or Evening Classes through the Anchor Bay School District - Contact your Guidance Councilor for more details and course offerings.

Macomb Community College - High school juniors and seniors currently enrolled in local secondary schools may be eligible to register for a limited number of courses each semester provided the following conditions are met:

1)     Permission is obtained from your high school counselor or principal. Appropriate documentation (Approval for Early Admit form PDF - 33KB) authorizing enrollment for the semester must be presented to Macomb Community College's Enrollment Services Office at the time of admission.

2)      Complete the Macomb Community College Application for Admission/Update and submit it along with your early admission authorization documentation and proof of residency to be eligible for the resident tuition rate to: Enrollment Services.

3)      Applicants interested in enrolling in English, reading, or math courses must complete a Welcome & Assessment Session prior to registration. Courses that require additional placement testing and/or successful prerequisite completion must submit appropriate supporting documentation prior to course registration.

Questions and/or additional information regarding early admissions may be directed to the Coordinator of Admissions and Transfer Credit by e-mail: earlyadmit@macomb.edu.
