Meet The Band Director

  Mrs. Emily Kirven is looking forward to her fourth year at Anchor Bay Middle School North. She previously taught band, jazz band, and general music for five years at Wagner Middle School in New York City. Mrs. Kirven was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and first moved to Michigan to attend college. She graduated with a dual degree in music education and oboe performance from the University of Michigan in 2018, and she completed her Masters in music education from the same institution in the summer of 2022. She was also a member of the Michigan Marching Band for all four years of her undergraduate degree as a member of the piccolo section. Currently, Ms. Kirven is an active oboe player, performing at the community and semi-professional levels. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
